How to Make a Sugar Glider Feeding Station (Kitchen)
You may ask yourself why would I need to make my sugar glider a feeding station (kitchen). The answer is very simple; sugar gliders are very messy eaters. They even like to throw the food around. So when you will build a feeding station kitchen; it will help you to keep the cage clean contain the mess.
And believe me, you will appreciate this tip that also is very easily implemented so let’s do it!!
It will only take you around five minutes to make but will save you hours of cleaning.
Items needed to make this:
- Simple plastic box with lid
- Drill
- Drill Bit
- 2.5” Drill Cup
- (sandpaper)
What you need is a basic plastic box with a lid. You can even buy in the dollar store, just don’t buy the thinnest one available. The recommended box size is 12”L X 8”W X 6”H but you can play with the sizes a little bit. It depends on the size of cage you have and the size of your serving dish and you also need to consider the amount of space your sugar glider needs to eat comfortably with the lid closed.
Use the 2.5” drill cup and make a hole in one of the sides, one inch from the bottom, for your sugar glider to use as a door going in or out. Make sure the hole you made didn’t crack the box or leave any sharp surface. If needed; you can use a sandpaper to smooth it out. Also make around eight holes on the lid with a regular drill, this is for air circulation, and you are done!!
Next feeding time, and every day moving forward, you will use this feeding station (kitchen) and all the mess will stay right there inside the box that you easily can clean, you can even put it in the dishwasher.
If you have a multiple sugar gliders and you have enough enough space, you can make additional feeding stations (kitchens).
